OUR COMMITEE

President’s Letter

Winter seems so very close now and rugby is nearer.  Our club people have been working hard to get us to this point and I appreciate everyone who has worked so very hard in the off season – whether they are a player, coach, club manager or committee member, everyone plays their part. We will be well and ready for 1st May for our old Timers and the Reunion of Championship winning teams who have won on decades.

Club rugby seems to be on the decline (it costs a lot to keep the clubs on their feet) and I see it as our duty to future-proof our club to ensure Carterton Rugby is here for the young school boy and school girl players of the JAB as well as the school leavers and young men who want to come back and play for their club.  Recently I heard a speaker talk about goals, growth and resilience  – that is what we need to focus on – being a club of growth.

The Premiers have played two pre-season games winning by 50-12 against Patea and 05-00 against Wanganui-Marist who travelled to Palmerston North to play us in atrocious conditions.  The Reserves have had one game and a few touch sessions.

Steel yourselves for a great season on the field and off it.  Old Timers’ Day is on 19th June 2021 with a Reunion of Championship Winning teams on the decade
